OUR TEAM

Museum Insights’ core team works together on every project. As needed, we use our network of professionals that we know and trust to expand our capabilities. In past projects, we have partnered with interpretive planners, exhibit developers, financial planners, and architects to meet the specific needs of each client.

Guy Hermann

Founder & Principal

Guy’s 25 years of museum planning experience builds on 15 years working in museum education and operations. This combination gives him a uniquely grounded understanding of what works and what doesn’t in museums and in museum planning. Having completed more than 50 museum master planning projects, he can draw on a wide variety of ideas, resources, and best practices. Guy’s planning experience is diverse, ranging from the Old Lighthouse Museum in coastal Connecticut to working with the Presidential Commission charged with selecting a site for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, now a Smithsonian museum on the National Mall.

Sara Zarrelli

Principal & Museum Master Planner

Trained as a public historian, Sara has worked for the National Park Service, The Trustees of Reservations, and Historic New England. She pairs strong research and analytical skills with a practical understanding of museums and their role in civic dialog. Sara’s passion is helping museums and historic sites develop a sense of place through exhibits, landscapes, and experiences that meaningfully connect visitors to the messy realities of the past and the present. Projects at Museum Insights include creating an award-winning assessment matrix for historic properties at Connecticut Landmarks, providing project management for exhibit development at the Art Complex Museum, and creating operating policies for the new National Coast Guard Museum. Regardless of the client, Sara’s goal is to leverage the museum’s resources to develop practical, implementable solutions.
